Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) as a Strategic Tool in Improving Governance: A Case Study of Commonwealth Africa

The Governance and Peace Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat (CS) is supporting member states in introducing ERM in government Ministries, Departments and Agencies. The objective is to facilitate improved decision-making in the implementation of National Development Objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The CS has now engaged international expert, GQR's CEO - Dr Omodele Jones, to undertake a major "Lessons Learnt" study on the introduction of ERM in six African member states. The study will consider the ERM methodology adopted, implementation experiences and strategic contributions that have been delivered by ERM. The six countries are: • Botswana • Eswatini • Ghana • Kenya • Sierra Leone • The Gambia

Dr Jones will be organising a series of consultative online workshops, surveys and meetings. Success should provide insights that will strengthen the resilience of member states in an increasingly uncertain and challenging world. The Board of GQR has been pleased to approve the deployment of GQR's resources in support of our CEO in his execution of this important mandate.
